Latest research, technology and economy trends on the field of solar cells, photovoltaic modules and system will be presented and discussed. The course includes selected lectures, demonstrations in laboratories and seminar work.r.

  • solar cells: operational principle, materials, technologies
  • conceprs of (mono/poly)cristallyine, thin-film (Si, CIGS, CdTe), dye sentitized and organic solar cells, tandem and multi-junction cells
  • analysis of optical and electrical losses, modelling, simulations and characterization
  • photovoltaic modules: types and technological trends, standards of crxstalline silicon, thin-film and concentrator PV modules
  • module performance, loss analysis, energy yield
  • modelling, simulations and characterization of PV modules
  • photovoltaic systems: grid-connected and autonomous PV systems, design, realization and mainteinance; power regulators and inverters, protection devices; connection to the grids, economy of PV systems
